This week marked the final week of our highly successful 6-week Women’s Health Exercise and Education Program at Conveniently Active. Over the past six weeks, our participants have enjoyed a combination of tailored exercise sessions and valuable educational talks, all aimed at empowering women to take charge of their health and wellbeing.
In this week’s session, we were fortunate to have Sophia Shippam, a women’s health physiotherapist from Dahlia Pelvic Physio, as our guest speaker. Sophia shared her expertise on an incredibly important topic: pelvic floor health.
Pelvic floor issues are a common concern for many women, whether they are recovering from pregnancy, managing menopause, or dealing with incontinence or prolapse. Sophia’s insightful talk provided practical advice on how to care for the pelvic floor, the importance of strengthening these muscles, and how pelvic floor health is crucial for overall wellbeing.
In addition, we were thrilled to have Tammy Baines from Trend Physio join us to speak about arthritis and musculoskeletal pain. Tammy provided valuable insights into how arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions impact women’s health, and shared tips on how to manage and alleviate pain through exercise, lifestyle changes, and proper care.
Our very own Exercise Physiologist, Tresna Browne, ran the exercise classes and facilitated the overall program. The program focused on core strength, posture, and mobility, all essential components of women’s health. Alongside the physical benefits, the education sessions have empowered women to make informed choices about their health and understand the role exercise plays in maintaining pelvic floor function, managing musculoskeletal pain, and improving overall fitness.
After this week’s session, participants left feeling more confident in their ability to manage and improve their health with practical tools and knowledge. The 6-week Women’s Health Exercise and Education Program has been a huge success, and we are already looking forward to offering the program again in the future.
