Exercise Physiology: Your Partner in Diabetes Management
Exercise Physiologists are health professionals who specialise in crafting tailored exercise plans for individuals with various health conditions, including those dealing with diabetes. We're not your run-of-the-mill personal trainers. Our role extends far beyond shouting commands during a workout; we're your guides and support team on the path to better health. Here's what you can expect:
• Thorough Initial Assessment: Your journey begins with a comprehensive assessment session. We'll delve into your medical history, set realistic goals, answer your pre-exercise queries, educate you about your condition, and design a personalised exercise prescription.
• Tailored Exercise Program: Conveniently Active offer two primary types of programs: one-on-one exercise physiology consultations and group exercise consultations. Because no two individuals are the same, and neither are their exercise needs! For eligible clients, we offer a Medicare-assisted program, where you can receive a referral from your GP for 8 group exercise sessions, and a Medicare rebate on the initial assessment. We're proud to bulk-bill the group sessions with this referral, making it accessible to more individuals.
The Client Journey
1. Book an Initial Assessment: Start by booking an initial assessment session where you'll meet with one of our Exercise Physiologists. This is the foundation of your individualised plan.
2. Customised Exercise Program: After the initial assessment, we'll create an exercise program that suits your needs, whether it's at our clinic, your home, the gym, or even outdoors.
3. Regular Reassessments: We're with you every step of the way, organising reassessments based on your needs to ensure you're progressing toward your goals. We make changes where necessary to keep you on the path to better health.
“Move for Diabetes” - Specialised Group Exercise Program
• Referral from Your GP: You can access this program with a referral from your GP (different from EPC), and we're more than happy to provide you with the necessary forms.
• What's Included: The group diabetes referral encompasses an initial assessment, followed by 8 group exercise classes. The initial assessment runs for 60 minutes and covers exercise testing, an overview of the classes, and a personalised plan. This consultation costs $150. The best part? You'll receive a rebate from Medicare. As for the subsequent 8 group exercise classes, they're entirely bulk-billed, meaning no charges for these sessions.
• No Referral? No Worries: If you don't have a referral, you can still join the program privately for $20 per class. We also recommend you check with your private health insurance; it might cover part of the cost.
One-on-One Exercise Physiology for Diabetes
• Tailored and Individualised: We understand that each journey is unique. Our one-on-one approach ensures your program is tailored precisely to your needs.
• Pricing Structure: The first consultation is a 60-minute initial assessment, priced at $150. Subsequent sessions last for 30 minutes and cost $75 each. If needed, we also offer 60-minute consultations.
• Flexible Locations: You can enjoy individualised programs within our clinic or other settings such as your home, a gym, or the great outdoors.
• Medicare and Private Health Options: Talk to your GP about the possibility of an Enhanced Primacy Care (EPC) Plan referral, where a portion of the session cost could be covered by Medicare (up to 5 sessions per year). Private health insurance can also come in handy, provided exercise physiology is within your coverage.
