Conveniently Active Kids & Teens

Empowering Children with Neurodiverse Conditions and Physical Disabilities

Conveniently Active Kids specialises in tailored programs to suit each individual child’s health needs. We are committed to promoting exercise as therapy. We provide exercise prescription, education and support to kids and teens who display barriers to exercise and physical activity participation.

We help our children to improve their health, wellbeing, fitness and mobility with appropriate exercise advice, and we do this for children of ALL abilities.

Our team of qualified exercise physiologists offers both individual and group therapy tailored to the needs of each child, focusing on physical health, mental resilience, and overall wellbeing. We use a play-based approach to therapy, ensuring that children stay engaged and motivated while learning important skills that will support them throughout life.

Conditions and challenges we work with:

Individual & Group Therapy

We offer both individual sessions for personalised care and group therapy to encourage social interaction and peer support. Whether a child benefits from one-on-one attention or enjoys the social aspects of group therapy, our programs provide flexibility to meet their needs.

Our therapy is designed to improve a child’s physical abilities, with a focus on strength, balance, coordination, and mobility. We work with children of all abilities, from those with cerebral palsy and other motor conditions to those on the autism spectrum or experiencing developmental delays.

Play-based Therapy

We believe that children learn best when they are having fun. Our play-based therapy integrates exercise and play to help children engage with their bodies and develop motor skills in a supportive, enjoyable environment. This approach is especially effective for children with neurodiverse conditions, as it makes therapy feel like a natural extension of their play and learning activities.

Through games, activities, and movement, children not only build their physical strength and coordination, but they also learn how exercise can become a coping tool in their daily lives. This helps them manage stress, reduce anxiety, and improve mental focus.

Mental Health Awareness for Children on the Spectrum

Children on the spectrum often face mental health challenges that can affect their daily lives, from sensory sensitivities to emotional regulation. At Conveniently Active, we emphasise the importance of mental health awareness and incorporate it into all of our therapy sessions. We focus on helping children understand and express their emotions, while also teaching strategies to help them cope with stress and anxiety through movement.

By teaching children early in life how exercise can positively impact their mental health, we provide them with lifelong coping tools. Exercise offers an outlet for frustration and anxiety, while helping children feel calmer and more in control of their emotions.

Supporting Parents Through Challenges

Raising a child with a neurodiverse condition or physical disability can present significant challenges. At Conveniently Active, we are committed to providing parents with support and guidance. Our programs give parents peace of mind, knowing their children are learning the essential skills to support both their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Our approach to therapy not only provides children with a safe space to develop, but it also offers parents the opportunity to connect with others who understand their journey. We believe that when children are given the tools to succeed and parents are supported, the whole family thrives.

The Importance of Exercise for Children

It’s crucial for children, especially those with neurodiverse conditions, to learn early in life how exercise can be used as a coping mechanism. Exercise isn’t just about physical health; it also provides important emotional and mental benefits.

By learning to move their bodies in a safe, supportive environment, children can develop important life skills such as:

Improved balance, mobility, and strength

These physical benefits help children develop the ability to perform daily tasks with greater ease and confidence.

Mental clarity and calmness

Moving the body helps to calm the mind, providing a sense of relaxation and reducing stress.

Self-esteem and confidence

Successfully completing an exercise or activity boosts a child’s confidence and sense of accomplishment.

Social skills

Group exercise sessions encourage children to interact with others, improving communication and social skills.
