Conveniently Active

My name is Rhiannon Walton. I’m the owner and senior Exercise Physiologist at Conveniently Active Exercise Physiology. I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2013. Since then I have worked within both private practice and within hospital settings.

I started Conveniently Active with the vision of offering the community affordable and accessible health care. After working in outpatient and inpatient units within the hospital system, it became even more evident that there are lacking services within the community that both prevent and manage chronic disease and injury.

There were two major issues that I witnessed: 1) cost and 2) accessibility of services such as exercise rehabilitation and therapy. At Conveniently Active we provide home visits for our clients that have mobility issues, difficulties travelling or simply feel more comfortable in their own home rather than coming to one of our locations. We also provide bulk-billing services, and private health funds are available when eligible.

My passion is to create exercise plans that are realistically implemented into my client’s day, whether that is at home, at the gym, at the pool or even going for a walk around the park. As an Exercise Physiologist I specialise in prescribing exercise for chronic medical conditions, chronic injuries and pain. My primary areas of interest are exercise intervention for cardiac rehab, cancer recovery, type II diabetes management and the management of osteoarthritis. I also enjoy helping my clients learn what form of exercise they enjoy and what works for them to help their lifestyle goals including general fitness and weight management.

I am very particular about improving posture and muscle balance, and ensuring that the right muscles are working during particular movement patterns – I believe these are the key ingredients to effective exercise implementation for many chronic injuries.

Outside work? I love to be outdoors, especially bush walking, walking along the beach and taking my dogs to the park. I have two beautiful (and very energetic) kelpies under the age of two. I have a wonderful husband named Michael, we are only recently married as of October 2018!!!

alyssaMy name is Alyssa, I have recently graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology. I strongly believe exercise is medicine and am passionate about helping people manage chronic health conditions through individualised exercise prescription.

My primary areas of interest are cardiac rehabilitation, management of metabolic conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, falls prevention and working with older individuals, as well as assisting with general health and wellbeing. I am passionate about helping people manage their condition through implementing an achievable and realistic exercise program. I enjoy assisting people in finding what exercise they enjoy most and achieving their health and fitness goals. I am also passionate about helping people be able to perform day to day activities with ease and independence and live a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Outside of work I enjoy keeping active through bushwalking, snorkelling and SCUBA diving and going to the gym. I enjoy spending time with my family whether it is going for a coffee or out for dinner or having a knitting or crocheting session with my mum.

haydenMy name is Hayden, I graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2019 with a bachelor of Exercise Physiology.
I began working within the hospital setting before joining the team at Conveniently Active.

I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients, from chronic disease management to persistent pain, mental health and more.
I am passionate about the benefits of movement and exercise and assisting people to build individualised exercise and lifestyle plans to improve their quality of life.

I enjoy keeping active in my free time whether it's going to the gym, swimming, climbing or walking my dog.

Rhiannon was bright and vibrant which meant it was soooo good going to the Gym each day on a rehabilitation program. Her results were amazing and I thank her for her persistence in getting me back on my feet to now being able to represent Australia in my chosen my sport.
I loved the variety & many changes to my gym sessions that mad each day go by so easy. Rhiannon's' ability to get me motivated of which was the hardest thing - as I required so much help to get through each day.

I am a Service Veteran who has had a lower back and posture problem for several years now. My GP referred me to Rhiannon of Conveniently Active twelve months ago and I have been seeing her regularly in this time.
The knowledge and experience she has in treating the underlying causes of problems and then prescribing the necessary physical exercises has seen a remarkable improvement in my condition.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Rhiannon to anyone who may require similar treatment both for her methods and caring manner in which she treats her clients.

Wendy

Hi, my name is Wendy and I am writing this testimonial for myself and my younger sister, Kristie who has a disability. A few days before the 29th June 2018, my doctor made an appointment for myself and Kristie and said we 'had to go'. At the beginning, i was not sure if I really wanted to begin a weight loss journey or even increase my bodily movement. After visiting Rhiannon on the 29th, I figured that I would do the core exercises and stretches given to me, but that they would not do much at all. Fast forward two months and after at the next appointment with Rhiannon, Kristie and myself had lost two centimeters and two kilos. This was GREAT news for both of us. This was the start of my weight loss journey and the start of a new lifestyle. Kristie and I both walk every morning before food and do our exercises most evenings. With the ongoing support and assistance from Rhiannon, I have lost 14 kilos to date and 5 centimeters. Kristie has lost 14 centimeters and 6 kilos. We will be continuing to visit Rhiannon in the following year, with mum and will be updating this testimonial every so often. We cannot thank Rhiannon enough for her help and support and recommend her services to as many people as possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
